
ABOUT PETANQUE
WHAT IS PETANQUE ?
Petanque is bowling game with rules similar to lawn bowls. The game is played on sand or gravel using steel balls (boules) which are tough, durable and easy to carry. It is a very casual and relaxed game ideally suited to the Australian climate. Playing requirements are minimal.
WHO CAN PLAY?
Anyone can play petanque, it’s for men and woman of all ages.
WHERE CAN YOU PLAY?
Anywhere you find a small piece of flat sand or gravel, eg. carparks, bush tracks, paths, beach, lawn or grassed areas…
.HOW MANY PEOPLE IN A GAME?
Any number between two or six. The maximum number of balls used in a game is 12.
WHEN CAN YOU PLAY?
Anytime. Holidays, lunch breaks, picnics, barbeques. Petanque is a year round sport.
Who can come and play at Vauxhall Gardens?
Anybody of any age or skill can come and play. Regular players will be happy to teach you some techniques.
Do I need to be a Club member?
No, no membership is required to play although if you are looking to play regularly, being a member of LPC means you are covered by our insurance.
Does it cost anything to play?
No, not to just turn up and play a friendly game.
Is it a serious competition?
No, although London Petanque Club does organise more serious competitions on other occasions during the year.
Can I get refreshments?
Yes, there are lots of good pubs/cafes very close to the petanque piste.
At the beach club they fell in love.

The "quay" blends work environment with a food and cultural experience that will be put on the map.
Kajen - ''The quay" contains a stage for performance, restaurant, workplaces, conference facilities and hotels.
This program will provide an overall experience for: conference attendees, hotel accommodation and restaurant guests.
Visitors take a cup of coffee at the coffee-brewer and afterwork at the beer-brewery after working for a few hours at the workplaces that Kajen - "The quay" offers.It is possible to rent electric boats and kayaks, or just use a nice hang on the dock.
